The latest on proposed move to Bankside (Bodicote)
« on: February 25, 2010, 10:16:49 AM »

There will be posters and leaflets available at our game on Saturday outlining the proposed "new" bankside development and our move to a new 12.5 acre site. The two projects are very much linked, should the new Bankside development not go ahead we will not get our new ground. Please read the leaflets and support the development. This consultation period lasts until 19th April. Its a fantastic proposed site that will mean a whole new future for the club. A modest Stadium is proposed but we will gain hugely through the training/coaching facilities that the new ground will offer to all our teams, who currently struggle to find facilities for training and pitches to play on in the Banbury area. Here's to a bright future. Smiley Cheesy Grin

Just how modest Nigel a bit better than Easington Rec I hope? New Stand, Terraces and Floodlights with good parking, goes without saying. I do understand that the training facilities and pitches are a must for Banbury, but it will be a ground to be proud of won`t it?

Modest?

What would be classed as modest in our league? Leamington? Oxford City? Didcot?

Minimum spectator requirements:-
– capacity 2,000, capable of being increased to 3,000
– covered accommodation 500, 250 of which must be seats in one stand (40 for H and A directors and their guests, 4 for press)
– four turnstiles

The minimum cover for standing spectators of only 250 is so limited that I would expect more to be provided. The obvious and sensible approach is to ensure that the ground can easily be improved.

Thanks folks it seams that you are all there sitting with your reference books! A ground that holds 4,000 would be be great and suitable standing room for the town end, that is if it is built facing that direction. Always allow for further improvements as we will be playing in League 2 within the next ten years.

This coming week is the last chance to write to the Council and support the extended Bankside development and our move to a new ground. The consultation period ends on the 19th April. If you have not written please do.We understand there is a petition circulating Bodicote against our move, we need to counter this with loads of support. !!!

Went on the cherwell d.c. website, and the relevant section regarding our proposed move,in the comments section, made before the April 19th deadline, there were 18 against and 54 in favour of the move to the new site, perhaps we need to start a counter petition supporting the proposal? Wink

The chance to express your view is over, rather disappointing only 54 in favour when we have 25 teams, say 15 players in each team and Mums and Dads,, only the true die hards seem to have written in. The next stage is for the Council to draw up more detailed plans for the Bankside (extension) development and go through various committees and I reckon it will result in a public inquirey. We will continue to work closely with the Council on the project. There is a public meeting being held at the Church House Bodicote next Wednesday 28th April at 7.30pm to discuss the development plans.

I have spoken to the guy at the Council, who has the job of downloading all the replies onto the CDC website and he reckons it will take a month to do it, So I would guess they have had a lot of replies Roll Eyes

We have had a timetable outlined of the planning procedures, the initial consultation period has now ended, all the replies will be sifted through.More detailed plans of the Bankside (Bodicote) extension development 400 houses and a football ground, will be published in early September, followed by another period of public consultation. The plans may have some small amendments made at this stage, it will then go in front of the CDC planning committee for approval. If approved its likely a public enquiry will be held next spring, the result of that will be published in the Autumn 2011. Then if it gets through that it will go to the Government for final approval in November/December 2011. It could get delayed or amendments made at any stage but if it all goes through on schedule a 12.5acre site next to the Rugby club could be ours in early 2012. The board will keep you informed. I would think we will do a presentation at the AGM in July of our plans.
