Farnborough 3 - 0 Puritans23rd April, 2010

With just five days notice of this fixture, by order of the Southern League, United struggled to put a squad together, not brilliant preparation when visiting the League leaders it has to be said, but Banbury showed their usual 100% effort throughout, and made Farnborough work for their three points.

Things were fairly even early on, and United had a decent chance but Lewis Hilliard mis-kicked at a crucial time after good work from David Staff. However, the home side opened the scoring in the 17th minute when United lost the ball on the bye-line, and when Craig Braham-Barrett crossed the ball, a surprised Dean McDonald poked a low strike home, past a stranded Mark Scott.

Once they had conceded, United were always going to find it difficult to get back into the game, with captain Nathan Haisley, centre-half Ben Milner and top scorer David Stone all unavailable, Banbury gave a full debut to young 16-year-old Harrison Foster, and he certainly did not look out of place in the middle of the park.

In fact, Farnborough had to wait until midway through the second-half before adding to their single goal lead, and this they did in the 68th minute when Adam Doyle struck a sharp shot from 10 yards, which flew into the net.

Farnborough completed the scoring in the 79th minute when Braham-Barrett hit an unstoppable shot home from the right, after a shot from the left had been blocked.
